I Won't Shut Up

If you can't speak your mind you are without a voice.

Speech is important for true communication between equals. Music is speech wrapped in patterned silk. We are equals - (even if Hip Hop is more sandpaper than silk to some - to me it’s word funk.)

I have learned that if you don't stand for something - you will fall for anything.

I think because people are not actively looking for ‘truth tellers’ or ‘alternative media’ or ‘dissidents’ or ‘countervailing narratives’ or whatever you wanna call it - they are falling for lies. We are in a new era where powerful liars simply tell people ‘facts’ and repeat them and then they all join together in the shared ‘knowledge’.

But I think it is worse than that now. I think the exit ramps for finding accurate information have almost closed and there is an emergent hatred of the dissenting voice. Haters gunna hate I guess though I’m not interested in upsetting people. I like people a lot but I will not tolerate censorship. It is someone forcing your mouth closed.

‘All quiet on set!’ is what they say in the movies. The storytellers of the big screen. I think they mean it. ‘Don’t make noise’ they say - ‘we are playing make believe’. Well I don’t happen to like the story, so if I may, I want to interrupt. Like Toto running behind the curtain to show the Wizard of Oz.

It does feel lonely and isolating at times to challenge the Normals but, you know, you just gotta put it out there sometimes. Singing about unicorns and rainbows would feel weird when so so many good people with differing information or ideas and opinions are being silenced or imprisoned.

Anyway - there’s alot to say about what is going on but others articulate it far better and I’m gunna drop this track here as another contribution to the goal of free speech.
